The Opportunity
We are building the data foundation that powers reporting, integration, compliance outputs and future AI capability. We are looking for a Data Engineer to develop robust data pipelines, curated datasets and integration-ready models across Finance, Sales, Design and Production systems.
This role is not just about moving data; it is about making data usable and trusted—so that teams can rely on automated insight rather than spreadsheets and manual rework.
What You’ll Do
Build & Maintain Data Pipelines
- Develop reliable ingestion and transformation pipelines from core systems (D365 CRM/BC, PLM, portals).
- Manage our MS Fabric medallion architecture (Lake, Warehouse, Semantic models)
- Implement data quality checks, lineage and documentation.
- Ensure datasets refresh reliably and at the right cadence for business use.
Curate Data Products for Analytics & Integration
- Create curated datasets and semantic-ready structures that enable BI and operational reporting.
- Enable ‘integration data’ outputs for portals and system-to-system flows.
- Support discovery of new attributes from unstructured sources where applicable (e.g., extracted metadata).
Data Governance & Standardisation
- Define and enforce standards for keys, identifiers and master data alignment (products, companies, orders).
- Partner with BAs and stakeholders on KPI definitions and data definitions.
- Support access/security patterns to ensure data is governed and trusted.
Enable Automation & Future AI
- Prepare datasets and features that enable automation and future AI use cases.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to embed analytics into products and portals.
- Continuously optimise pipeline performance and cost efficiency.
Key Outcomes & KPIs
- Trusted, reusable datasets that reduce manual reporting and data rework.
- Stable pipelines with reliable refresh and clear lineage/documentation.
- Improved integration data outputs that support portals and workflow automation.
- Consistent identifiers/master data alignment across systems.
- A scalable data foundation that enables AI and advanced analytics.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- 4–7+ years’ experience in data engineering, data pipeline development or BI engineering.
- Experience working with modern data platforms and enterprise data sources (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Dataverse, MS D365 Business Central and D365 CRM).
- Strong skills in data modelling, transformation and data quality practices.
- Proven ability to deliver datasets that are actually used by the business.
- Comfort partnering with stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics and data definitions.
- A constant desire to ask why.
Desirable
- Experience with ERP/CRM and operational data (Business Central, Dynamics 365).
- Experience supporting supply-chain/compliance datasets (factory events, certifications, CP milestones).
- Exposure to unstructured data extraction and metadata enrichment approaches.
- Experience with DevOps-style practices for data (versioning, CI/CD, monitoring) – we don’t do this yet but are looking to improve our practices .
